My story

My relationship with yoga began at a time that I needed it the most. It eased my pain and showed me the right way to handle life’s challenges. I was at a point in my life where I needed a silver lining…and yoga became just that. Just like the lotus flower, my life started in murkiness, forcing me to ground myself strong and break through a tough shell to eventually shine through to the light.

I wasn’t always a yoga instructor. Having been raised in a troubled home,  The early part of my life was spent chasing disappointments, escaping trauma, and unhealthily dealing with emotions. Working tirelessly as a hair stylist while raising my daughter on my own, I moved through the motions of life, but never truly lived.

My vigorous workout routines helped me avoid facing my problems and then by happenstance, I stumbled upon yoga. This was such a different type of workout for me as I was used to extreme, intensive workouts to eliminate my rage. I started attending yoga classes at local studios and adopted a regular practice. Yoga became so much more than just eliminating rage. It taught me how to manage my emotions, how to breathe through difficulties, how to be true to me, and how to love myself in order to share my love with others. It became my safe haven. I felt empowered, accepted, and strong.

I was offered with the opportunity to complete a 200-hour yoga teacher training. I jumped on it. The idea of being able to help others find themselves through yoga excited me. My career so far as a hairdresser was flexible and allowed me to help others feel better about themselves, but by teaching yoga I was given the opportunity to help people feel better about themselves inside and out while also improving myself simultaneously.

I love teaching power yoga. It was the first form of yoga that I tried and it’s where I began my teaching. I was presented yet again with another opportunity, something that I didn’t really know that I needed until I decided to say yes. I took a yoga teacher training in LoveYourBrain Yoga – yoga, meditation, and community support for the Traumatic Brain Injury community. Slow yoga? Slow, gentle yoga for a community that needs to practice in a studio with dimmed lights and soft, quiet music?

There’s no way I would be good at this, or even like teaching it. Boy, was I wrong. Slow, calm yoga was exactly what I needed. After completing this training, my commitment to yoga (on and off the mat) truly bloomed. I then enrolled in even more forms of yoga and meditations. I taught more diverse classes with students on all different paths of life. This cultivation of variety and inclusiveness let me inside my students’ journeys in a different light, too. I learned as well as taught.

The light has illuminated my life in a multitude of ways. I found I loved mentoring other yogis and when the opportunity to train yogis as teachers came about I once again opened to the light and having those new experiences. In 2019, I led my first 200-hour yoga teacher and aerial yoga teacher trainings and are now teaching their own students. I’m currently completing my 500-hour yoga teacher certification while also working full time as a hairdresser and teaching yoga at multiple studios throughout each week.

Despite the rough beginning to my journey, my petals still blossomed. I grew through the troubles, confronted my fears, and grew from my mistakes.

I found my dharma (my life’s purpose). I aspire to be a guide, by helping people move forward in their lives with grace and by mentoring them to find love and acceptance towards themselves and others through all points of their journey. My teachings and practice have become more comprehensive and I aim to live yoga every day. It’s not always easy, but every new step is progress. Yoga is a practice, not a mastery. We all have the ability within ourselves to rise from the mud and reach for the light.

Wherever your life has taken you, and wherever you are now, we’re all here for a reason and a purpose that’s bigger than ourselves.

Sometimes we need a little extra support to find that purpose, I know that I did. That’s why I created this space - to be your support in guiding you towards living your true you.

You happened upon 2 Crows and a Raven Yoga for a reason. Whether you’re here for Reiki, Yoga, or Education - you found me because you’re ready for your dream to manifest. I’ve spent my yoga journey expanding my education and deepening my practice to help you heal, practice, and grow.
